“Since June 2014, we have hosted 134 campaigns in dozens of U.S. states, and we’ve helped register large numbers of people,” said Nada Abisamra, director of CLFW and Project Roots.

“We have been focusing on spreading the word and raising awareness about the need for every American of Lebanese descent to register in Lebanon, and on motivating people to register; we are extremely grateful for the support of the greater Lebanese American community.”

Abisamra thanked the media groups and Lebanese-American organizations for their support and promotion of registration campaigns, and stressed the importance of their continued partnership.

Mr. Neemat Frem, president of the Maronite Foundation, thanked the six CLFW Board of Trustees members for their commitment and financial support alongside the Maronite Foundation in the World.

He also thanked, for their close partnership, the Lebanese embassy and consulates, various churches, and the media, especially, “MTV (which has been producing, broadcasting, and distributing our campaign commercials), in addition to OTV, LBC, Télé Lumière, and Charity TV which are broadcasting them.”

“We also want to thank the various supporters and organizations that have contributed to the success of our mission because, without them, we could not be celebrating today,” Frem said.

“We are also here to celebrate the ratification of the Lebanese Citizenship Law,” Frem added. Frem referred to Law #41, the “Reacquiring the Lebanese Citizenship” law, which was passed earlier this year by the Lebanese parliament. New applications for Lebanese citizenship will be considered by a committee within the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities of Lebanon.

According to the law, persons eligible to apply should have their names or the names of their paternal ancestors, listed in the records of the census of 1921, the census of 1924, or the census of 1932/emigrants.

Frem urged Lebanese-Americans to register their births and marriages in Lebanon, noting the citizenship law gives a ten-year deadline for past generations of Lebanese expatriates. Applications must be submitted before November 25, 2025, according to the law. He said that CLFW will now start promoting registration in the US “counties” with the largest numbers of Lebanese Americans.

“We are grateful for the strong existing partnerships with the embassy, consulates, and dioceses in the United States,” Frem continued. “We are lucky to have great supporters and leaders like Consul General of Lebanon in Detroit Bilal Kabalan, who visits Saint Maron Church in Cleveland the first Wednesday of each month to help families register in Lebanon.”

“This coming year, in order to motivate Lebanese Americans to register in their mother land, we will work in close collaboration, in DC, with Chargé d'Affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Lebanon, Ms. Carla Jazzar, and with Consul Ali Karanouh, along with Rising Star, Mayssa Karaa; we will work in close collaboration in CA with Consul General Johnny Ibrahim and Miss Lebanon Emigrants; and we will work in close collaboration in NY with Consul General Majdi Ramadan and Celebrity Chef “Julie Taboulie. In addition, we will intensify registration campaigns throughout the United States, and will highlight the newly established scholarship program.”

Ms. Carla Jazzar congratulated CLFW team on “their dedication to preserving Lebanon’s specificity as a diverse and democratic society in which Muslims and Christians coexist peacefully in a power-sharing formula; CLFW deserves all our appreciation for their work, for reaching out to all Lebanese in the United States, for helping them reconnect to their roots by encouraging them to register in Lebanon’s official registry.”

Ms. Jazzar echoed Mr. Frem’s remarks about the importance of citizenship, and ensured a close partnership for years to come.

“Your mission is our mission,” Jazzar said. “It is our duty to work with you and support you.”

Jazzar then stressed the importance of the Lebanese Citizenship Law for people of Lebanese descent living abroad as it gives them back their rights and privileges. She also pledged to provide support and resources to register as many Lebanese Americans as possible.

Following Ms. Jazzar’s speech, the honorees received their awards and certificates, then the winners of the “Preserve your Heritage” scholarship program were announced/drawn, in the $1,000 and $500 categories. Fady Kashkoushe, of California won, by default, the $1000 scholarship as he submitted 10 complete files. Then Mr. Frem and Ms. Jazzar drew the names of the winners of the $500 scholarship, and they are: Nancy Bitar and Roula Abou Saleh (DC), Charlotte Neller (OK), Belinda Asmar (PA), Marie Louise Hatem (OH), and Lilian Richa (SC). [CLFW offers, twice a year, 5 scholarships that range between $500 and $2,000 to people who have referred at least 3 eligible American families of Lebanese descent (who want to register their child birth(s) in Lebanon) and have submitted complete files for them.]

Then, Monsignors Maroun and Karam drew the winning names of a free airline ticket to Lebanon, and they are: Antonio Salah (MN) and John Elie Charchar (NJ). [Every year, we select two people to win FREE Tickets to Lebanon among those who successfully registered their marriages and child births in Lebanon through us during the past year.]

Three young Lebanese-Americans also won an all-expense-paid educational trip to Lebanon through the Maronite Academy after having successfully taken the two required online courses and supported CLFW with registration by running campaigns and referring families to register. Winners are Roxanne ElHachem and Christine Abi Abdallah (CA), and Joseph Seif (OH).

The press conference concluded with a cocktail reception, and photo opportunity.
